ISCC Certification Scheme
What is the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification Scheme?
The ISCC scheme is a global system designed to ensure the transparency of complex supply chains and sustainable production of biomass feedstocks for application in energy, food and animal feed, and industrial markets.
The ISCC is one of the largest certification schemes globally. It has issued thousands of certificates in more than 100 countries and is governed as a multi stakeholder initiative including research institutions and NGOs.
ISCC Objectives
The ISCC is committed to enhancing traceability in global supply chains and being a zero-deforestation standard that protects biodiversity and land with high carbon storage. The scheme is implemented using the following principles:
Ecological sustainability
Social sustainability
Compliance with laws and international treaties
Monitoring of greenhouse gas emissions
Good management practices
Reasons to get certified under the ISCC system
Certification is a commitment to responsible and sustainable practices. The ability to demonstrate socially, environmentally, and economically sustainable supply chains has many benefits including:
Increasing stakeholder and customer confidence
Increasing product value
Align with ISCC objectives
It is also a requirement to have certification in order to handle certified sustainable materials.
